Outdoor enthusiasts fall in love with the area for its:

The Smoky Mountain Visitor Center is ten minutes away and can assist you in finding plenty of things to do.  


Forty-six percent of Macon county is in the Nantahala National Forest. (239 miles).  Franklin, North Carolina is nicknamed the “Gem Capital of the World. The area is is said to be rich with minerals and gemstones -including rubies, sapphires, amethyst, moonstone, and garnets  drawing thousands of amateur mineralogists and gem enthusiasts.

Forests:  Explore part of the  Appalachian Trail,  the Smoky Mountains,  Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest,   Nantahala National Forest or  Tallulah Gorge State Park.

Gem Mines and Antique Shopping are plentiful.  Golf, horseback riding, breweries and wineries  are also available.
