The Smoky Mountain Visitor Center is ten minutes away and can assist you in finding plenty of things to do.  


Forty-six percent of Macon county is in the Nantahala National Forest. (239 miles).  The county is also known to be rich with minerals and gemstones -including rubies, sapphires, amethyst, moonstone, and garnets  drawing thousands of amateur mineralogists and gem enthusiasts.

Forests:  Explore part of the  Appalachian Trail,  the Smoky Mountains,  Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest,   Nantahala National Forest or  Tallulah Gorge State Park.
